Good Morning - Today is Remembrance Sunday so I have made today's card using Corporal Clegg.
from Dr Digi.
I am really
interested in my family history and have done a huge family tree. I
found one relative who was in a prisoner of war camp and died two days
before liberation - So sad! I managed to find where his war grave is in
Belgium and was able to have his story remembered by the Royal British legion campaign to commemorate every fallen solider.
It really is an amazing and interesting site and really quite easy to
find any relatives they may have been involved in the Wars. I hope every generation continues to remember and be thankful for the sacrifices made by these Soldiers.
I
really wanted to use the poppy paper but mixed it with the wood effect
to create some harsh contrast to the pretty flowers - I guess that's
part of the symbolism of the Poppy in War.
The poppy paper is from Prima "The Optimist" range and the wood is from My Minds Eye - Necessities collection - Wood.
I thought the zig zag card fold worked well as it allowed the different papers to be seen. I added a small paper poppy flower that I bought from The Ribbon Girl. Finally added "lest we forget" using little letter stickers from Webster Pages. I also added Glaze to the buttons, Cane and Gloves.
I used these promarkers / Flexmarkers to colour Corporal Clegg -
Shoes / Belt / Moustache - Black & Cool greys.
Uniform - Pastel beige, Pesto, Olive, Herb Green, Earth Yellow.
Shirt and tie - Khaki.
Hat - Burgandy, Cardinal red, Ruby & Poppy.
Skin- Usual combo of Antique White, Spice, Coral, Soft Peach & Blush.
Gloves - Nutmeg, Cocoa & Saddle Brown.
Gold buttons etc - Gold, Canary & Buttercup.
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges -

ATTENTION! IT'S DADS DAY!
Morning - again I'm running a little late... I've worked it out
though - it's when I work late shifts as I really don't like getting up
out of my bed!! I certainly would not appreciate Corporal Clegg from Dr Digi yelling at me to do my PTI!
Well as its Father's Day - I had to post a card for the Dads. And don't they all love planes and military shows! It was also the perfect excuse to colour Corporal Clegg in with a red and blue theme. I like him in these colours but I'm not sure which Country he serves...
I can't express strongly enough how glad I am that I found Dr Digi images. They are perfect for all the Dads and Lads cards!
I made this card on a DL card and realised I have not made a DL card for Donkeys years... I used to do them all the time but now my go to shape is square 6x6 or C5. I think the DL has gone out of fashion because all paper pads are square and as you can see I have got a small join visible behind Corporal Clegg but you can't really notice it on the striped paper. Think i'm going to go on a mission to bring the DL back!!!
The papers are both from Doodlebug Stars & Stripes collection and the letters are from the Skinny collection at Doodlebug. I die cut the plane from more paper from the collection using a Cuttlebug Die that I've had for a while. The wooden exclamation mark is from Studio Calico which I bought at Hobbycraft. The Black swirl gems are also from Hobbycrafts collection. I used a little glaze on the hat, shoes and cain.
I coloured Corporal Clegg with these Promarkers & Flex markers -
Skin - Antique White, Blush, Soft peach, Coral & Spice.
Clothing - Red, Poppy, Ruby, Cardinal & Burgandy.
Leather - Saddle Brown & Henna
Shoes - Ice Greys & Black
The blue details - Egyptian blue, True Blue & Azure.
I also used a gold Pilot pen to colour the buckles, cain and embellish his hat and buttons.
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges -
Digi Galore - Men.
Krafty Hands - For the Dad's
My Sheri Crafts - Masculine
Art Impression - Red , white & Blue.
Case this sketch - Layout.
Pennys Paper Challenge - ATG
Crafty Gals - Red white & blue.
Cards 4 Guyz - Fathers Day
Die Cutting Divas - Masculine Theme.
Right now I have to go and see my Dad and if I'm lucky the parents might make me brunch!!
See you next week

Attention!
Morning all - It's Sunday and whilst for most its lazy relaxing time... I will shortly be off to work. BOO! I want to stay home and colour but unfortunately I have to earn some money to support my crafty addiction.
This image is from Dr Digi - Corporal Clegg and I think he is ace - plus at the moment he is only £1.00! You can't get much for a £1 these days!
Initially I thought I'd colour his uniform in Red but I've done quite a bit of red lately so I went Khaki and I love how he turned out. (But a Red and Blue combo won't be far behind.) I've not added a greeting as I though it could be used for any occasion as it is and I can always add on later. I added the Ribbon, button and star etc so they gave an impression of medals.
Card Recipe -
Hobbycraft Kraft card is the base and the map paper is from Amercian Crafts - Do It Yourself collection which is great for mens cards. The Stars are from Doodlebug and the ribbon from The Ribbon Girl - Red Twill. The other bits were just from my stash but any twine, ribbon and buttons would work the same. A big gold or brass button would look great! (Note to self for next time!!) I also added Glaze to the buttons, Cane and Gloves. Seems I put glaze on everything at the mo.
