Enchanted Ocean shaker card

Hello -  Today is the start of a new challenge at The Paper Shelter and the theme is Going Digital. I have used this fab image called Enchanted Ocean
I have used the digital coloured image and also the background paper. I have added my own die cut seaweed and fishes using dies from Marianne Collectable . I decided this was a perfect image to make into a shaker card and added clear thread to both the Mermaid and diver so the appear to float around in the card. I added Doodlebug sequins and glitter but learning from past mistakes I didn't add to much! The front panel was created used acetate and around the frame I tied a co-ordinating blue ribbon. Finally I added the Best Fishes using Doodlebug letters.

I think I have always avoided digital images to some extent... But this challenge has really made me think twice about using them. You can still get really creative with what you do with them! We would love to see your creations and look as the fabulous prize...

Will you be Mine?

Morning - It's so nearly Valentines day so I thought I would make a manly card that wasn't too lovely or slushy and Deep Sea Doug from Dr Digi was the ideal image.

Hubby and I had date night last night and went for dinner and cocktails until we were so full we could barely walk home!! It wasn't because it was nearly Valentines day but our first weekend off together for a while so we had it booked in for ages... Romantic hey??!

So how do you think I have done? Even though there is pink - it isn't too girlie! This paper from a 12 x 12 Reflections pad called Today, Tomorrow and Forever matched perfectly the colours I used on the image (Incidentally I got this pad from TK Maxx and its is identical to a My Minds Eye 6X6 Pad... ?) I die cut the anchors using a Lawn fawn die from silver mirri and a gold textured card and couldn't decide which one to use so I used both!! I punched a hole in them and tied some twine around them to dangle which I attached on the inside.

I die cut around the image with  My favourite things wonky stitched rectangle die and mounted it on to black card. Finally I added a few co-ordinating sequins and some silver pen to add a little extra detail.

I used these promarkers & flexmarkers to colour the image -
Skin - usual
Helmet & hair - Cool greys
Words - Pastel pink, Antique pink & Red Sweater.
Suit - Sea Mist, Pastel green, Aquamarine & Soft Green
Mine - Dove Grey, Stone wash, Blue Lake & Hearthstone.

That's all from me for now - Hope you all have a love filled Valentines Day - how ever and whom ever you spend it with,

Reach for the stars...

Morning -
I got some zig clean colour pens for christmas and have been playing with creating backgrounds. I made this night sky to go with this image from Dr Digi called Saucer Head.
I decided to make it into a shaker card by die cutting a panel from black card using a Nestibilities die and covering the gap with accetate. I filled the shaker with far too many sequins and glitter from Doodlebug- when will I learn that less is more!! I also used some Cosmic shimmer olympic gold paint on the background to give it areas to look like stars.

I coloured the image and made sure I went around the image to so it blended with the background - I also coloured the clear space of the saucer and used some blender pen and white pen to make it look like glass. I think its quite effective!
I die cut the Happy Birthday from gold card using a paper smooches die and I added the other bits by hand using a gold and silver pen.

I used these promarkers & flexmarkers to colour the image -
Sky - Midnight blue,
Saucer - Red, Poppy, Ruby & Burgundy
Alien - Soft Lime, Lime Zest, Lime Green, Pear Green and Marsh Green
Powder blue eyes and Gold top.
The lights are Lemon, Summer Sun & Sleigh Bells.

Thats all from me for today - I would love to know what you think of my background and if you make your own backgrounds - What do you use ?

Thanks for stopping by,

I used a Lawn Fawn die to cut a frame to look like a polaroid and cut some black card to look like picture holders. Go for it Duck.

Happy Easter Sunday. The card I've made for today is using Scaredy Duck. I thought I would try and combine the current Animal challenge with something kind of Eastery (Is that a word??) So I went for a kind of chick! I got a little carried away with all the sequins & Glitter in the shaker card but I think he deserves a little excess for his bravery.

I made the shaker section using my new Lawn Fawn Large stitched circles dies which I love!  I cut the frame from Doodlebug paper and the background from Echo Park Splash collections. I used Doodlebug glitter and sequins to fill the disc which I sealed with 3d foam around the acetate frame.
I covered a round card base with another Echo park pattern from the collection and glued the shaker card on top. Once I had coloured Scardey Duck in using my promarkers I cut closely around him and stuck him to the top with 3D foam. I added glaze to his beak and feet along with the rubber ring which I also scattered a little cosmic shimmer glitter on to try and make it appear wet.
Finally I used black glitter letter from Hobbycraft to spell out the greeting.

I used these Promarkers and Flexmarkers to colour the image -
Duck - Soft Lime, Lemon, Yellow & a touch of Gold.
Beak & Feet - Gold & Bright Orange.
Rubber ring - Powder Blue & Sky Blue, Pastel Green & Ocean Teal.

If you click on the picture above you can see the latest challenge at Dr Digi which is Animals and win yourself some free digis! And there are so many cool ones to choose from...  So don't forget to get your entries in.

All for now - Hope you've not eaten too many Easter eggs and are having a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.

BBQ Dragon - it's all about the scales.

How's things Monkey Mates? Todays post is for the latest inspiration for the I Love Promarkers challenge and this fortnights theme is Anything Goes. We all love them! And the sponsor is my favourite medic - Dr Digi and I have chosen to use this image called BBQ Dragon

Now I've wanted to play with this image for a little while but was lacking inspiration as to what to do with him... Then I saw a post over at Janey's Card... and it was all about using Liquid pearls with stencils.... the texture and dimension made my creative juice started to flow!! I thought it would make a great background to look like scales so here it is... It was really simple once Janey had provided the inspiration and I literally squirted Lime green liquid pearls over a Kaisercraft stencil and used my finger to spread it around and fill all the little nooks and crannies. It's not perfect - a few bits bled through but I'm really happy with it and think its pretty effective. Sooo my thanks to Janey!! Take a look at her tutorial - its much more eloquent than I could ever be!

There aren't many other ingredients to this card - I mounted the textured panel onto orange Bazzill card and I cut around the image using my Friskars cutter before fussy cutting around the rest of the dragon. I used silver pen on the image to colour the lance and some stickles called Orange peel on to the flames. I added some blue ribbon from American crafts and finally a few orange sequins from Doodlebug.

I used these promarkers & flexmarkers -
Dragon - Pale Citrus, Lime Zest, Lime Green, Pear Green & Marsh Green.
Dragons Belly - Powder Blue, Cloud Blue & True Blue.
Chicken, horns & lance - Raw Sienna, Cinnamon & Oatmeal
Flames - Bright Orange, Yellow & Sunset Red.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges -
Fab N Funky - All Creatures great and small.
Country View Challenges - Make your own background.
Cardz 4 Guyz - Make it sparkle or shine
Ellibelles - Critters and creatures
Get Creative - Fantasy / mythology.

Right all for me for now ... Speak to you all again very soon,

Sofa so good...

Morning - blimey It's Sunday again already and here is my latest creation using Dr Digi image called Sofa So Good.

I love this image - so many times I've come home to find our dog in this exact position on the sofa... although he's not quite this big to take up the whole chair! I know my Dad will appreciate this card as the dog has always got the best seat in the house, to the extent that when I was a kid I got the floor if the dog had already claimed his spot on the Sofa!! Spoilt creature! It certainly is a dogs life in our houses...

To make this card I used an Anitas round card blank. I used a circle cutter to the background paper which is from KI Memories - Colour theory collection (Possibly one of the oldest sheets of paper I own - reckon I've had it at least 8 years! Hoarder!!) The ribbon is also from my stash!
I glued the ribbon on top of the patterned paper and trimmed it to fit. I put some PVA glue on the edges to stop it fraying. The coloured image I stuck on top with 3d foam. The greeting is from my peel off stash and the Scribble tile letters I got from Hobbycraft.  I added some frosted lace stickles to the stuffing coming from the sofa and also some glaze on the split tea and the dogs tongue.
Finally I added a few doodlebug sequins in shades of brown.

I used these promarkers and flexmarkers -
Dog - Light Fawn, Nutmeg, Saddle Brown, Cocoa. Warm grey 5 for his paws.
Sofa - Tea green, Pastel blue, Carpi blue & Twilight sky.
Tongue - Carmine & Dusky pink
I edged the whole image with warm grey 1.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges -
Suzy Bees bloomin challenge - Something beginning with S (W)
Chocolate, coffee & cards - Animals (2w)
Crafty cardmarkers - Circular cards. (2w)
Stamp & Create - Brown (m)

Anyway - we won't talk about rugby today... the win last night did little to redeem them! Question is who should I know support??

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and I'll be back soon

3 girls, 1 Mic.

Morning - it's time for me to show you another amazing image from Dr Digi - Today its 3 Girls, 1 Mic. Aren't these Diva's ace! Kind of reminds me of Diana Ross and the Chain reaction video!!

I had loads of fun adding all the glitter to these ladies as they had to shimmer and shine. I seem to have a bit of a thing for Purple at the mo but not sure why really. I think gold and purple go together well and is very opulent - which is only what these ladies deserve!

The background is from the Gilded stack by DCWV. Not sure it shows that well on the picture but the whole of the background is gold foiled on kraft. This picture shows the background better but is overall too dark.

I also covered the Ladies with diamond Stickles once I had coloured them to make them Shimmer and shine. I attached the image using 3d foam.

I made two die cuts of the music notes using a Memory Box die which I layered to add a shadow with paper from my stash and added some purple Doodlebug Sequins. The greeting is from Pebbles and the purple ribbon I had in my stash but the two tone of it works great with the tones of the card. As a final touch of glamour I used a Gold rollerball pen to colour the jewellery and microphone.

The 3 Girls I have coloured using flex & promarkers -
Skin- Antique white, Blush, Soft peach, Coral & Spice.
Cheeks - Baby Pink & Cerise. Lips - Poppy
Dresses - Imperial Purple, Purple Velvet, Purple & Orchid.
Gloves - Sleigh bells, Pineapple Crush & Buttercup.
Hair - Cool greys
I used glacier blue all around the image to make it stand out a little.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges-
Inkspirational - Purple.
Polka Doodles - Girlie but no pink.
Digi Chooseday - Purple.
Open-minded Crafting - Reminds you of a song.
Your Next Stamp - Colour challenge.
Clear it Out - Girls & Die cuts using stash.
Cuttlebug Mania - Bling
Inky Impression - Ribbon.
Papertake Weekly - Glitter.

Hope the glamour and sparkle makes you smile today as the weather is bit gloomy in my neck of the woods,

Party Poopers.

I made this card for the latest I Love Promarkers Challenge using images from the sponsor Eureka Stamps. This is one of the digi images called - Party Poopers.   Click on the link to take you to the image.

I'm not sure why I choose this image as I am not very good at colouring Fur but I love Dogs and just thought this was a really fun image. I based my Dogs and colouring on a Little Mutt, Alsatian, A grey Scruff, Doberman, Labrador and Dalamatian - Not sure I managed but you get the jist!

The theme of the challenge this week is TAGS - So I went with the party theme and added a tag as a Shaker embellishment using Acetate and putting behind it lots of multi-coloured sequins and glitter.
The background paper is from Doodlebug and the red tag paper is from Bazzill Basics. Tag I die cut using a Sizzix die which I removed the middle from. The ribbon I just had in my stash?!  The Happy Birthday is from Pebbles and the black letters are also from Doodlebug. I added a little glaze to the Pooches noses to make them appear wet.
The Grass is cut using a Joy Of Crafts Die.

I used the following Promarkers to colour the dogs -
Dalmatian - Cool grey 1 & 5
Golden Retriver - Sleigh bells, Pineapple crush, Eggnog & Raw sienna. Cocktail pink & blush.
Alsatian - Auburn, Saddle brown, Chestnut, Cocoa, Warm grey 5, Fire wood & Umber.
Grey mutt - Blue greys. Cocktail pink & Antique pink
Doberman - Warm grey 4 & 5, Black, Spice & Amber.

Sorry for the neglect!

Blimey - I didn't post at all in April! My excuse is that the House has been demanding my attention (ie the Boyf has been writing lists of jobs that need doing.) We have decorated all the bedrooms now and started on the dining room. But what I've been mostly busy with is my garden. Its took me ages to weed and plant everywhere. Its looking good now and all my veggies are doing well - We have spinach, peas, carrots, tomatoes, beetroot, lettuce, pak choi and so much more that I won't bore you with... but I may post a picture someday soon...(I know - spoil you readers!)

So - here are my only two creations from recent times.

I don't think this one is finished?? It needs a greeting but not sure what yet! I used my doodlebug glitter again over orange promarkers to give it the scaly sparkle. The Mermaid is a digital image from Some Odd Girl and I will enter it into the challenge as I am loving the orange and pink colour combo at the moment. The patterned papers are also Doodlebug.

This image is another from Stamping Bella - Uptown Girls range. I am loving these at the mo. I've paper pieced with paper from Crate Paper On Trend range and then used some strips of the same range down the side. I added some co-ordinating ribbon, doodlebug Sequins and resin flowers. I stamped the greeting from a set I have from Paper Smooches and added a few gems. The photo doesn't show it but I used Wink of Stella to accent the chair and also glossy accents on the wine bottle and glass.

Well - that's all for now. Promise not to leave it for so long next time! (:(|)x
